Earlier this year, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University announced the successful development of an antiviral 3D printing material, which can kill over 90% of the COVID-19 virus in 10 minutes and is effective against all variants. The story did not end there. The professor leading the research and his team were determined to apply the technology to those who need it most—because the virus is tiny, its harm widespread, and the underprivileged grassroots are especially vulnerable. Growing up, the professor himself lived in a three-nil building, witnessing how, despite the harsh environment, the grassroots community was filled with mutual support and human warmth. Now, he wants to give back to the community with the fruits of his research.
